Where the Heart Is

Where the Heart Is, HAEVN

“When the faith is ready”

We’re always told to have faith, have some more trust, but … this is the first time that I hear the expression ‘when the faith is ready’ in a song. It’s so considerate and understanding of our vulnerability and fragility. Even when we try to have faith, we’re not always ready. Sometimes we need to wait long enough for our faith to be ready, to jump at the right moment, at our own pace.

“You are falling to the stars”

That means you’re already higher than the stars! You’re already so high up, and you’re diving in to get closer to the stars. It’s beautiful, like a parallel world that’s reversed. Stars are magic, really. The image is just utter beauty.

“It’s the faith in sight, the doubt that fades, as the world dissolves below”

I can see a person skydiving. They can see the ground, but it’s not underneath their feet to support them. They’ve already made the jump. They feel that overwhelming and fulfilling peace that fills them to the core as they can see the whole world from above, knowing they’re inevitably going to reach the ground as the gravity pulls them down. They’re seeing the world for the first time. It’s so tiny, and yet so vast. All the problems, all the pressure, everything that hurts … it dissolves. All the doubt … it dissolves too.

“Where the air is thin and sweeps you off your feet”

Again, you are so high up the air starts to wear thin. You feel like you can’t breathe. And yet the air that does manage to get into your lungs is the purest air you’re ever going to breathe. You feel your lungs burn because of the lack of air, like when we’re in this big problem and we’re terrified and suffocated by the hardships. But … it’s the purest air we’ll ever breathe. And after that comes the jump. We jump. We take the leap. We learn. We grow. But first, we need to get high enough up for the air to wear thin. That’s when we jump without breaking.

“Take the leap of your life”

It sounds like the pep talk you need. It’s so scary—almost petrifying. But once you take the leap, you’re never the same. It really is the leap of your life.
