True Love

True Love, Coldplay

“Tell me you love me. If you don’t, then lie, oh lie, to me.”
This always makes my eyes sting. Despite the music implying that this is a bit of a happy song, the words are actually painful. This line right here is very, very painful. I can feel the agony. I felt it before. All the thirst to be loved, and by this one specific person … all the heartache that such words must inflict. The need to say them is the root of all heartache. If you don’t, then lie. The pain … lying there, so deep, so untreated, in so much need for healing but getting denied it. I think we’ve all been through something similar. The relief once someone—and that someone could be your very self—healing those wounds after so much anguish is just … indescribable.
